Declutter Your Mind

On a scale of 1 to 10, (1 is never, 10 is always) how many uninterrupted moments do you have within a day? Moments of solace, peace, and time to yourself?

Moments without:

· direct interaction or engagement with others

· notification of emails or communication from social media

· worry about the “next thing” or next task ahead that robs you of the current task?

How many moments do you have to truly tune into yourself, your wants, your needs, and be FULLY present within the environment around you? Sometimes we can literally feel like we do not have time to THINK. We are seeking solutions to complex problems, innovative ideas, and endeavoring to have success, but do we have daily practices that facilitate this?

Could it be that the very things you need are accessible to you if you take time to DECLUTTER your mind? Generally speaking, the concept of decluttering is valued as it relates to our homes, offices, and physical spaces, but what about integrating this practice with our mind?

Take productive action steps to DECLUTTER from the hustle of busyness and cultivate a lifestyle of mindfulness that leads to productivity and notice the difference in your thoughts and mood. Simple ways to do this include:

  1. Do not talk on the phone in stores or while in line when you are by yourself. What if you meet a valuable resource, new friend or learn about something that benefits you?

2. Drive silently in the car at least 1 time a day or 1 time a week.

3. Eat a meal alone without any electronics. (This includes your Apple Watch/smart watch device).

4. REST. Be intentional about setting a bed time so you are REFRESHED to think.

5. Say “No”-sometimes our schedules are so overburdened with appointments and loads of work that we work to the point of exhaustion, which impacts our mood, clarity in thinking, etc.
