Truth & Transparency with Others

We are continuing our month-long discussion about truth & transparency: principles to access your healing. Throughout this series we are discussing the power of truth and transparency to maximize our relationships and begin the healing process!

Three areas of our lives where truth and transparency is NEEDED  is with GOD, ourselves, AND others. I find that sometimes the scariest truth is the one we have to share with others. We fear the reaction of others and risk rejection when we are transparent. However, living at this level produces sooo many benefits.

Here are 3 tips to help you develop transparency with others:

  1. Develop Vulnerability.

Vulnerability is the seed  for  truth and transparency with others. When something is vulnerable, it is susceptible to harm or attack.

You may wonder, why in the world  would I want to do or share something that could possibly hurt me?

The simple answer is:  vulnerability removes the armor of PERFECTION. As we begin to show others our humanity it creates opportunities for connection beyond the surface level and a deeper fulfillment within those relationships. Vulnerability also removes the pressure of over performance that leads to stress and burnout.

2. Embrace that real protection comes through transparency.

If you are seeking services with a doctor or attorney, the help you receive is limited to the truth you provide. Your doctor and attorney can only defend and protect you to the level of information you provide. The more truthful and transparent you are, the more help you will receive.

We will not receive the protection we need in our relationships with others without truth and transparency.  For example, if you have a problem with overspending or overeating, releasing the TRUTH and being transparent with others can lead towards receiving advice and information about budgeting and weight loss. We actually RISK our wellbeing by hiding the truth in these situations.

3. Release the Crowd.

Lastly, release the  focus  of what “they” will think. Evaluate who is REALLY looking at you. At times we over-evaluate the belief that others are concerned with us. Furthermore, remember that what you have WILL help YOUR crowd. There’s  a group of people you’re assigned to have influence with who will actually learn and GROW from you. It is OK that everyone may NOT accept or receive you. Instead let’s focus on leaning into those who will be BLESSED from sharing our authentic selves and living transparently.
